Royal Isabela is a private luxury golf course and resort community situated on 1,800 acres of stunning real estate on cliff tops along the rugged coast of Isabela, in northwestern Puerto Rico, overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, about 73 miles from San Juan.

The town of Isabela is one of 17 municipalities in Puerto Rico that comprise the spectacular western region called Porta del Sol (Doorway to the Sun).  This region is loved by the locals and very popular among visitors who love to escape from the city to go to experience the feel of beach towns unexploited by mega resorts and hotels.

At the heart of Royal Isabela is an oceanfront course that matches up to the beauty, style, and challenge of the world’s best golf courses.

Yet another top star at Royal Isabela is Chef Jose Carles who is ranked among Puerto Rico’s newest celebrity chefs, with droves of followers addicted to the fresh and inventive flavors he cooks up. Chef Carles is one of four local chefs featured in our Culinary Gusto section where he reveals his advocacy to both slow food and locavore movements; classic European cooking techniques with Puerto Rican ingredients combined to create his signature farm-to-table cuisine.

Royal Isabela was developed by brothers Charlie and Stanley Pasarell, former local tennis stars, and the resort is a lush tropical coastal enclave that was built to conserve and honor natural features; and is all about restoring Old World charm to the vacation experience.

The Golf Links was designed by David W. Pfaff in collaboration with the Pasarell brothers. The roots of Royal Isabela stretch back to 1989, when Charlie Pasarell first set eyes on the land and envisioned “the Pebble Beach of the Caribbean.” Named the “Best of the Best” courses by the prestigious Robb Report, the course was charted around nature.

Even if you don’t golf, stopping for a meal or a drink at La Casa rewards you with spectacular views from the highest point on the property.

Set on one of Royal Isabela’s highest elevation, La Casa is quite literally “the home” for the entire Royal Isabela golf community. Located just steps from La Casa, are 20 freestanding Casitas “little houses” designed for the ultimate in Puerto Rican hospitality. Each Casita encompasses 1,500 square feet of indoor and outdoor space and is sited to best catch Royal Isabela’s stunning ocean vistas.
